If
a question arise to youths’ that who is their Inspiration and Role model
most of the answers would be “Abdul
Kalam”, “Abdul Kalam”, “Abdul Kalam”. This isn’ just a word from their mouth but from bottom of the heart.
Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam who
is shortly called as APJ Abdul Kalam or Abdul Kalam born in a financially poor
background in Rameshwaram on October 15,1931. But it was not a bar to him. In
his childhood itself he decided to take care of his education by his own. So he
worked as a newspaper distributor.
He was not a topper in his school, but known
for his bright mind and hard work. His desire to learn Mathematics set him
apart from other students. After completing his school, he attended Saint
Joseph’s College, Tiruchirappalli and got his graduation in Physics in 1954.
By
the end of the course he realized that he was not interested in Physics. But he
did not felt guilty for that. Instead of that he decided to take up the right
path. Then he secured a scholarship and joined a course to study aerospace
engineering, from Madras Institute of Technology.
During
these days he strucked into a bottleneck situation. That was, he had to finish
a science project with a deadline of three days or else his Dean will cancel his
scholarship. So, he worked tirelessly to finish it. Atlast he won and impressed
the Dean.
The
missile man start up his career by designing small helicopters to The Indian
Army. Kalam was invited by Raja Ramanna to witness the country's first nuclear
test, Smiling Buddha, as the representative of Terminal Ballistics Research
Laboratory (TBRL), even though he had not participated in its development.
Kalam served as the Chief Scientific
Adviser to the Prime Minister and the Secretary of the Defence Research and
Development Organisation from July 1992 to December 1999. Kalam served as the 11th President of India,
succeeding K. R. Narayanan. He won the 2002 presidential election with an
electoral vote of 922,884. He served as the President from July 25, 2002 to
July 25, 2007.
After completing his second term as the
President of India, Kalam launched a programme for the youth of India. APJ
Abdul Kalam holds the highest civilians honour of our country. In 1997, the
Government of India honoured him with the highest civilian title, Bharat Ratna.
He has several honorary doctorates from 40 universities, from across the globe.
From the life of Youth Inspirator we
can learn that financial background is not a matter to win. Any situation will
arise at any time to test our confidence
and courage. So we should not give up. “Life
is like a Battle field, Fight Don’t Run”. It’s not a small thing that a
next-door boy becoming The President of India. He did it, because he worked for
it. And he also inspired the Youth’s by saying “Dreams
is not what you see in sleep is the thing which doesn’t let you sleep”. These words
really made the Indian youths to think. He trust that youths will do all the
right things and actions to make India not only
a developed country but also the first country in all fields. In every
interview he made the youngsters to think and made them to know in which stage
they are. He also said that “India will become a developed country in 2020”.
He was died in July 27, 2015 while
representing the students. The real homage
to our “Dream setter” is making his all dreams true.
